The open qualifiers of The International 2019 are going to be held from July 3 till 7. This means that the teams participating in the EPICENTER Major will not have a lot of time to rest after the said event ends as the open qualifiers will begin after just four days. The open qualifiers are basically going to give teams who didn’t perform well during 2018-19 season a chance to qualify for the biggest Dota 2 event.
Regional Qualifiers and Group Stage
The regional qualifiers on the other, are going to begin on July 8thand will end on the 15th. The regional qualifiers are going to be really important are they are going to decide the final six teams that will make it to the big event. One team from each region, China, North America, South America, CIS, Europe, and Southeast Asia is going to get selected. Once the regional qualifiers come to an end, the group stage matches are then going to begin starting from August 15th.
Already Invited Teams
Aside from the teams that have to qualify for the main event, eight teams have been directly invited to take part in The International 2019. Included are Evil Geniuses, LGD Gaming, Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Secret, Virtus Pro, Vici Gaming, and Fanatic. All of them are the best Dota 2 teams out there and fans are excited to see how they are going to perform.
As the open qualifiers are going to begin just four days after the Major ends, many fans believe that the next Dota 2 patch will be now released between July 15 and August 15. This means that we will get to see the next match after the regionals end instead of the Majors. In any case, this will give Valve some extra time to improve and balance the game before the final matches of The International 2019 begin.
Prize Pool of The International 2019
On the other hand, the prize pool of The International 2019 has also surpassed $19 million and it is projected to go increase even further. The prize pool was at around $15 million at the start of this month and it has increased with over $4 million in just three weeks. At the moment, the final prize pool of this year’s International is expected to be around $28-30 million. Last year’s event featured a $25.5 million prize pool and it was regarded as the biggest prize pool in Esports history. All we can do is wait and see whether it will again break some records or not.
