The professional Dota 2 team, Team Liquid has recently decided to make some changes to its current roster. That’s right, the team which was well known for keeping their roster together for around two years has finally decided to make some changes. Not only this but one of the team’s top players, MATUMBAMAN is the who has been dropped.
MATUMBAMAN Is No Longer A Part of Team Liquid
The announcement was made through the official Twitter account of Team Liquid. In the statement posted by them, the Dota 2 team confirmed that this was a mutual decision and it is for the best interested of all parties. They also claimed that MATUMBBAMAN has been an incredible part of their team since the past three years and they are proud to have spent time together with a player like him. This further confirms that both parties are on friendly terms, and the latter didn’t leave the team because of any problem.

For those who don’t know, MATUMBAMAN is one of the three players that joined Team Liquid back in October 2015. The other two players were Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov, and the team’s captain Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi. All of these players have helped Team Liquid in one of the best teams out there. Not only this, but MATUMBAMAN has played extremely well in the last three seasons. Thanks to his amazing skills, Team Liquid managed to win The International 7. They also managed to get the seventh place at the TI6 and fourth place at the TI8.
At the start of this year, Team Liquid also celebrated their achievement of keeping their roster together for over two years. There are some teams that have changed their roster at least twice a year. However, the team managed to keep everyone together, including the two players who joined after the original three members. “Amer “Miracle-“ Al-Barkawi was added to the team after The International 2016. While Maroun “GH” Merhej was picked up by them before The International 2017.
What Will Happen Next
At the moment, many fans are wondering why this sudden change in roster took place considering Team Liquid is all ready for The International 2019. In addition to this, they are also going to complete in EPICENTER Major, which is currently scheduled to begin on June 22. With around 10 days left till the event begins, Team Liquid will have to fill the empty spot in their team soon. Although teams who make changes to their roster right before tournaments perform poorly, the same might not happen with Team Liquid. They are widely regarded as one of the best Dota 2 teams in the world, so we can expect them to come up with a good strategy.
In any case, it will be exciting to see who the next player is going to be and how the team is going to perform now that one of their best players is gone. All we can do is wait until the EPICENTER Major begins and see for ourselves.
