Even though it was one of the most popular mobile games, Tencent has shut down the mobile version of PUBG in China. That’s right, the game is no longer accessible to people living in China. This has happened because the government of China has not allowed the publishers to monetize the game, something which Tencent could not afford.

Tencent Attempts Have Failed

For those who don’t know, Tencent has been attempting to convince the Chinese government to let them monetize their game for more than a year now. However, it seems like after several attempts, Tencent is no longer going to convince the government. The reason behind why the government didn’t allow them to monetize their battle royale title is that fact that the game features violent content, something which goes against their rules.

PUBG Mobile Replaced with Game for Peace

On the other hand, Tencent has decided to replace the mobile version of PUBG with another game titled “Game for Peace.” The new game was approved for monetization back in April and features a patriotic theme. Although its gameplay is almost like PUBG, Tencent has still made a few changes in it to make it acceptable for the government.

Changes in Game for Peace

Basically, Tencent has decided to make some changes to how the game works. For example, if you shoot a player, he will not bleed. In addition to this, whenever you kill a player, he will wave at you before disappearing. These are some of the changes which have basically transformed the game to a more friendly version, something which the Chinse government has happily accepted.

In addition to this, players who have downloaded Game of Peace have claimed that their progress from PUBG mobile has been carried over to the new game. This means that you will not have to struggle again to get your hands on the content you once had in PUBG mobile. This is something which will make those players happy who played PUBG day and night to get various skins and cosmetics.

Game for Peace Expected Revenue

Analysts from China Renaissance have also claimed that Game of Peace is currently expected to generate around 8 to 10 billion yuan in revenue. This is because PUBG Mobile had around 70 million average daily players, and the majority of them will shift to Game of Peace now. In addition to this, the developers have also stated that their new game is is a tribute to those who are guarding their country.

Those who are interested in downloading Game of Peace should keep in mind that they must be at least around 16 years old in order to download it. The age restriction has been applied in order to prevent the game from having a negative affect on little children.

This isn’t the first time a game has been shut down in China as the country has some strict rules. In any case, Tencent sure made a smart move by replacing PUBG Mobile with a similar game as they will not loose any players now.
