Unlike other tournaments, the Dota 2 Summit 12 was announced at the beginning of this month. To be exact, it has been announced ten days before the tournament is scheduled to be held. Because of this very reason, its announcement came as a surprise to every esports fan. In addition to this, it is being held in the middle of two big events; the recently held StarLadder ImbaTv Minor, and the upcoming ESL One Los Angeles Major. As it can be difficult for every fan to watch the event in person, the organizers are going to livestream it so that fans can enjoy it peacefully from their homes. For those interested, the Dota 2 Summit 12 will he streamed live on the official Twitch channel of Beyond the Summit, the organizer of the tournament. The live stream will start at 11 AM CT today. Total Teams And Prize Pools
Beyond the Summit has decided to invite a total of six teams to the event. Players will be able to see some top tier teams including Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, and Fnatic. All teams are going to compete for a prize pool of $150,000, which will be divided among the winner and runner ups.
All six teams are in one group and they are going to follow the round-robin format at first with a best-of-two approach. Four teams who perform well will advance to the playoffs while the rest will have to go home. The group stage will feature both an upper and lower bracket. All matches will be best-of-three whole the grand finals will feature a best-of-five approach.
