Fans of Apex Legends will be glad to know that they will soon get to see the very first professional tournament of the game. FACEIT, one of the most popular tournament organizers out there, recently revealed that they are going to host an Apex Legends tournament that will be licensed by Respawn Entertainment and EA Games. Many fans have been hoping to see an official tournament since the game was released, and their wish has now come true.
FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends
The event is titled as FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends. Around 16 teams are currently scheduled to compete in eight different events. At the moment, the organizer has confirmed that popular teams including CLG, complexity, GenG, Misfits, NRG, 100 Thieves, Cloud 9, G2 Sports, and Dignitas are going to compete in the tournament. In addition to this, SKT T1 and Team Liquid have also been confirmed through the official website of Pro Series. The remaining teams will be revealed at the end of the day.

Prize Pool and Format
The teams are going to compete for a $50,000 prize pool, which will be divided among the winner and the runner ups. As for the format, the organizers are yet to reveal the one they are going to follow. It is currently unknown whether the organizers are going to create a custom lobby or simply follow the points system. For those who don’t know, in the points system format, the team with the most points is the winner. One thing to keep in mind here is that the tournament is currently exclusive to the North America region. However, we can expect the next tournaments to focus on other regions too.
Why Custom Matches Are Important
In some other unofficial Apex Legends tournaments, the points system format is used since there isn’t an option for custom matches in the game. Even the top Twitch streamer, Shroud recently claimed that Apex Legends can “fly” with custom matches. According to him, it will make the game more fun as players will be able to create their own games. Not only this, but he even added that custom matches will allow streamers to host their own tournaments.
In any case, let’s just hope that the tournament goes smoothly without any problems. The Apex Legends community has been eagerly waiting to see such tournaments, and the developers have finally listened to them. If everything goes alright, then we can expect to see some official tournaments in the next few months.
On the other hand, the developers of Apex Legends are currently trying to improve the game in whatever way they can. Last month, Respawn confirmed that they are not going to focus on adding new content to the game. Instead, they are going to work more on improving the game as they want to make it playable for everyone. In addition to this, Apex Legend season 2 will be also revealed next month during EA Play’s event.
